God is with You
Joseph’s story is filled with hardship and what I would call “unfairness.” He is betrayed by his brothers, falsely-accused by Potiphar’s wife, imprisoned and forgotten.
But over and over through his trials we never catch Joseph complaining, his attitude is positive, he stands out in everything he does, he is recognized by the people in charge and eventually ends with a prestigious role to save not only the people who betrayed him, but the entire Israelite community at the time.
The text for the sermon leads us to when Joseph was thrown in prison. But the text tells us twice that God was with him.
In the In-Between time, it might feel that we are alone, that God doesn’t care but Joseph’s story is a reminder that even in the dark and lonely places and all seems negative and final, we see that God is there. And as long as God is there, there is hope.
The point is that God wants to show us His love in the darkest places. And if we hang on, we will not only get to display that which He has gifted us to do but also see His miracles and break throughs happen in our lives.
