The BIG "E"

Mark McAdowI had a great blessing this week. I found my reading glasses that I had "lost" in our move to OKC (Robin told me they had been in the bedroom closet for weeks). The world looks so much better now.  I can focus with greater clarity and actually read again without straining! I'm certain now that I could read more lines on the eye chart than simply the BIG "E." Several in our church know the benefit of improved eye sight through recent surgeries. The eye truly is the lamp of the body, according to the Scripture. Why all the comments about eyesight? Because I'd like to focus on the BIG "E" in the following months at Loaves and Fishes. The "E" is Evangelismin a phrasesharing Christ with others in a natural, and potentially life-changing, way. It is Christ's command and our privilege. It is one of my chief passions, as well.

Why is it so easy to talk about the most recent movie that we've seen, or recommend a favorite restaurant, but we often get "tongue-tied" when it comes to speaking about what Jesus is doing in our life? Are we afraid to speak up, or just don't know what to say? Christian author and speaker, Becky Pippert, says this about evangelism: "Christians and non-Christians have something in common: we're both uptight about evangelism!" Does that describe you? If so, I'd like to help "loosen" you up a little!

Beginning next Thursday, September 6, I'll be teaching a course at Loaves and Fishes called Becoming a Contagious Christian. If you're available on Thursdays from 12:00-12:45, I'd love to have you join me! We'll talk about what Evangelism is and is not, learn simple tools for sharing your faith with others, discover the six styles of Evangelism in the New Testament and what your style is, look at handling objections to Christianity, and just have fun! Our resident cook, Mary, cooks a great meal for us and it only costs $6. Hope to see you there!

Blessings!

In Christ,
Mark

Sad that we cannot make your class but always blessed by you Pator Mark! There is such freedom in evangelism for us today. There was a time where I use to pick and choose who I would witness to and who I wouldn't. My lesson in that is that I am so grateful that God doesn't pick and choose his "kids". What a wonderful lesson...not only does it bless me but better yet it blesses others because today we share with everyone!

Much love...your friends Daryl and Heather

Last Sun. you encouraged us to listen to praise music when we felt uneasy or were having a really rough time. I am a bit rebellious and stubborn so I thought "yeah, right, like that will help". However, I know God's principals regarding obediance are clear. I began listening to a cd I like to listen to (Mississippi Mass Choir) but this time I was listening with a purpose,to hear God. Before I realized it ,I had turned off the cd and was singing and crying out to God. He inhabits the praises of his people. And right their on route 66 heading home He was with me, as He always is,but this time I was with Him too. I was conscious and present with Jesus. It totally changed the focus and outcome of my week. I arrived at my house a little tired but refreshed and ready for my second shift as Mom. I felt I had so much more to give to my children. Thanks for your encouragement. Lisa Jefferson
