As I was thinking today about what to write, I was working at remembering my purpose. That's right, what is my purpose? Many people would begin thinking of all sorts of things as their purpose, but God is very defined in what our purpose is, and what it is not.
Some of you may be familiar with the word "teleological," a philosophical term referring to the design or purpose of something. No less than seven times in the book of Exodus, our purpose is defined. Exodus 8:1, 8:20, 9:1, 9:13, 10:3, 10:7, each time ending in the phrase, "Let my people go, so that they may worship me." What does the freeing power of Jesus Christ set you free to do? Many people may want to be free to discern what God would have them be. Some may be freed to experience God in a new way. Some people even believe God has set them free to make up their own minds of what they are to do and be. God has set us free through the blood of Jesus Christ to worship Him. Nothing more, and nothing less. We are free that we may worship the Lord our God.
How have you worshiped God in this day? How will you begin tomorrow knowing that God has freed you to do nothing but worship Him? What must change in our daily lives to represent the worship we are called to proclaim for our Lord? In everything we are called to worship the one true God. Now that's something to think about!
Worshiping Him,
Kirk
