Sunday School Classes Baby in Nursery (1st hour)

Infants:  We believe in building a foundation of Faith at the earliest of age.  With music and teaching pictures, the infants at First Church have the opportunity to experience the excitement of loving Jesus!

Walkers:  When the infants start walking it's time to move up where there's room to roam!  With exciting hands-on activities based on their Bible Teaching Curriculum the kids have a blast learning about the Bible and everything in it!

Toddlers -2s & 3s:  The toddlers at First Church have tons of fun learning about God through crafts, games, music and other fun activities.  This is an age of building friendships so we try to teach them in every way that Jesus is their very best friend!

Birthday BearBirthday Bash

Our little ones also get to celebrate Birthday Bash on their Birthday month with yummy treats and fun B-day gifts.

Nursery Guidelines

Nursery Ages:  Six Weeks - 5 years old

Nursery Times:  Our nurseries are open thirty minutes prior to each service.

Registration:  All parents are asked to complete a "Getting to Know You" application to keep on file as well as a registration sheet with contact information.

Teacher Screening & Training: Every teacher and child care worker is required to complete a criminal background check before working in the nursery or children's area.  All criminal background checks are received and reviewed prior to anyone working or volunteering in the class room.  All nursery workers have had child care training and are CPR certified.

Check-In/Out Procedure: The security check in program we use is called Checkpoint.  Each family has a check in card that they pick up from the nursery area before each ministry activity.  The parents will keep this card through the activity and then use the card to check their child out prior to leaving.  The card must match up with the printed nametag your child receives when you check them in.  A child may be checked in and out by either parent.  However if someone else is needing to pick up your child please notify the nursery staff and make sure they must have the check in card to match the child's name tag.  If the child is brought by someone other then a parent, the child will need to be checked out by that same person.

*If you are needed for any reason, pertaining to your child, your security number will flash across the sanctuary screen.  We are looking into a pager systems that will notify you via pager.  If you are participating in another class and are not in the sanctuary one of the Childcare workers will locate you.

Child's Belongings:  Please make sure all diaper bags, bottles, pacifiers, cups, etc. are labeled with your child's name to avoid confusion.

Health Concerns:  For the safety and well being of all or four children please do not send your child to participate in the nursery if the following symptoms occur:

A fever of 100 degrees or more
Diarrhea (consistent)
Discolored or consistent drainage from the nose or eye
Rash of any kind (unless there's a note from the doctor)

Medication:  Due to safety reasons we can not administer any medications to your child.

Snack Time:  We do provide a light snack during each service but please make sure your child has been fed beforehand.  Due to our full time schedule a light snack is all we have time to provide.

Potty Training:  Please let us know if your child is potty training and what current method you are using.  We try to encourage potty training by scheduled potty breaks and asking frequently if the child needs to use the potty.  If your child is struggling with the potty training and continues to have accidents, we want to continue to work with your child on potty training but it may be necessary to send them in a pull-up.

Comfort Techniques:  Our hired staff is here to make sure  your child is comforted in every way.  They are skilled in this area and will do what they can to keep your child happy or content.  We do have a place on the "Getting to Know You" application that asks what comforting techniques are used at home and we are glad to implement those here as well.  Going to the nursery can be an adjustment for some babies and this may be a hard transition.  But the end goal is for them to be well adjusted and comfortable with their nursery surroundings.  We do a lot of redirecting and comforting techniques before going to get the parent.  However, if you would like to be notified within 15 minutes of your child crying please let us know and we would be glad to come and get you.  Otherwise rest assure your child is in good hands and well taken care of.

Pick Up Time:  Children need to be picked up within 15 minutes after the close of service.  If you are not able to pick up your child within this time limit please let us know.  If someone else is picking up your child please see check-in procedures above.
