Volunteer for friday night alive

Friday Night Alive is a terrific place to serve. To volunteer for Friday Night Alive, please fill in your information here. Thank you for serving!

How to Volunteer

Beginning in February and March of each year we  have sign up sheets available for that year's Marathon activities.  Below is a list of teams that make up our Second Wind Ministry.

  • Greeters

Stand at the entrances to the First Church activity areas to provide a friendly greeting, direct guests to venues such as Harris Hall and bathrooms, and answer any questions a guest might have.

  • Kitchen/Cooking line/Serving line

There are two shifts per position.

Kitchen volunteers help with the prep and clean up in the kitchen area.

The cooking line operates the grills and flips the pancakes.

The serving line makes sure every person gets a plate with pancakes and sausage.

  • Dining Room

Assist guests with seating and provide directions as needed, monitor clean up, and maintain the general flow of guest activities from serving line to exit.

  • Expo Shift Leaders

Serve at the Runners' Expo on the Friday or Saturday before Marathon.  The shifts are three hours each.   Volunteers prepare baby pancakes to hand out along with packets of pancake mix and information inviting runners and their families to the Blessing of the Shoes service on Saturday evening of Marathon weekend and to the Pancake Breakfast in Harris Hall on Marathon morning.  Many visitors to the First Church Booth commented that getting our mini pancakes was the highlight of the Expo for them, and Marathon wouldn't be the same without this tradition!

  • Security

This is reserved for those who have worked in this capacity in the past here at First Church or are known to members of our Security head.  If you are interested in volunteering as security detail for the Marathon, please contact Sarah Baumann at 239-6493 for more details.

  • facilities

Monitor the various activity venues, such as Harris Hall and bathrooms, to make sure all is clean and welcoming for our guests; pick up trash, clean up spills, etc.
