I would be amiss this last day of November, not to thank Matt and Julie Porter again for their service to Christ and our students at First Church. It has been a blessing to serve alongside Matt on our staff. He has brought passion, joy and insight to our team along with “The Biggest Loser!” (The Blue Team will just not be the same without you Matt – we still expect you to keep losing and weigh in on Wednesdays!) His lovely bride, Julie, has been a welcomed helpmate to Matt and us. As a matter of fact, Julie means “Youthful” and we appreciate the love and “youthful energy” she’s shared with our students. Matt’s name means “Gift of God” and he has certainly been a gift to all of us.

As I shared last Sunday, we are sending them out to a new mission field. A place God is leading them to continue their service for Christ. Life is not just about First Church or any other; it’s about building the Kingdom of God. We have a rich history of raising up pastors and missionaries from First Church to reach others for Christ. That’s why we exist, to see transformed lives. God’s best to you, Matt and Julie! We love and appreciate you both so very much. There will always be a special place in our hearts for you!
